Countdown to the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) International Fundraising Conference

Perspectives on Your Profession will kick-off in Chicago on Friday, March 18 with pre-conference workshops through Tuesday, March 22. Will you be there? I will!

We are about two weeks away and I will be updating this blog with my highlights of the conference.  Be sure to follow my tweets @Btalisman, on the fly interviews live from the conference on my Cinch channel and this blog as I share my experiences.

Part 1 – Highlights

Monday, March 21 – The Fundraisers Service Project! We will be sorting product donations to be distributed to children served by nonprofit organizations in Chicago. The project goes on all day in the Marketplace (read Exhibit Hall) and those with 5 minutes or 5 hours can lend a hand. Bring a friend!

Tuesday, March 22 – President Bill Clinton will be speaking at the closing session. I have met and heard the President, he’s a great speaker. After Reverend Desmond Tutu last year, the bar has been set very high.

Moving into the 21st century, AFP will be using social media to share information and keep us connected. Through on line conference tools you can track sessions, speakers, information and handouts.

Using Twitter, @AFPIHQ and #afpmeet will be posting information from conference sessions and information even if you aren’t there in person. Please join the Twitter feed and add your comments.

And, of course, there is the Facebook page for the conference. Be sure to “Like” it to get updates from the conference and truly connect online with your fundraising colleagues worldwide.

Discussions can also be found via LinkedIn where AFP will be hosting conference discussions.

Once the conference starts AFP will post photos on Flickr and AFP YouTube channel.

See you at the conference or online!

  1. Looking forward to it! I will be volunteering as a speaker host for a session Monday morning and signing books at the bookstore at noon on Monday. Stop by and say hello.
